Srilankan Maid attempts suicide after female sponsor pours hot oil on her

KUWAIT CITY : A Sri Lankan maid sustained injuries and fractures after a failed attempt to commit suicide in Mubarak Al-Kabeer due to cruelty inflicted on her by her Kuwaiti employer, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to sources, the Kuwaiti woman poured boiling oil on the maid and made her stand on the roof of the house. The maid then tried to end her life by jumping from the roof, but failed. Security officials and paramedics rushed to the house after receiving information about the incident and took the maid to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.
The Kuwaiti woman was referred to the authorities for interrogation and a case was registered.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti woman aged 54 years has accused her Asian driver of stealing her money and jewelry when she was out of the country, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to sources, the woman, residing in Abdullah Al-Salem area, returned home from a holiday and found that the doors of her bedroom had been broken down. She entered the room and saw her safe was open and all her money and jewelry were missing.
The missing items include 10,000 Saudi Riyals, 7,000 UAE Dirhams, 4,000 Bahraini Dinars, 6,000 Kuwaiti Dinars, 4 white gold bracelets, 3 yellow gold bracelets, 8 rings, 6 expensive watches and other white gold items.
In her report to the police, the woman said she had left the driver to look after her house while she was away, but did not find him when she returned. A case has been registered and investigations are on to find the suspect.
